Applications

Registration for the doctorate is pronounced by the President of UGA, on the proposal of the director of the Doctoral School. All application files must be approved by the EDCSV Executive Board. The director of the Doctoral School makes sure that the scientific, material and financial conditions (a salary equivalent to the french SMIC at least) are met to guarantee the good progress of the candidate's research work and the preparation of the thesis, after the opinion of the director of the research unit of attachment on the quality of the project. The normal duration of the thesis is 36 months.

In order to be registered as a doctoral student, the candidate must hold a French master's degree with honours or another degree conferring the French master's degree, following a training course establishing his/her aptitude for research.

Go to the page "EDCSV competition"

CASE 2 : other applications

Please fill in and send the following document  to the Doctoral School by mail (ed-csv@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr).

Particular Cases

Foreign Diploma:  if you do not have a French M2 diploma or a French engineering degree, your file will be evaluated by the "Degree Equivalence Committee".

Cotutelle: If you are preparing a thesis in cotutelle with a foreign country, you must, from the beginning of your thesis, set up a co-supervision agreement.
Once your application has been accepted by the ED, you will be put in contact with the International Relations Department of the Doctoral College.

Thesis carried out in parallel with an employee's activity:  the maximum duration of the thesis is 6 years. In addition to the registration form, please fill in the salary form. The aim is to clearly define how the thesis work will be articulated with that of the employee's activity. This should be clear for both the doctoral student and the supervisors.

Duration of the thesis

The preparation of a thesis normally requires 3 years of full-time work, but exceptions may be granted for a fourth registration (which is not automatic).
A fifth or even sixth registration can only be granted in very special situations (student employee, illness, maternity...) and is subject to the approval of the Doctoral College which groups together the Doctoral Schools of the site. In all cases, each year you need the approval of your CSI for your registration.
