Doctoral School of Chemistry and Life Sciences

 

EDCSV gathers more than 400 researchers and teacher-researchers holding HDR (with a total potential of more than 600 researchers) and 370 PhD students registered on average each year, spread over some twenty research units. These laboratories (UFR of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy and Physics; INRAE, CNRS, INSERM, CEA) are sometimes grouped into Federative Research Institutes (IFR) and benefit from the presence of international research centres (ILL, ESRF, EMBL) on the Grenoble site.

The main missions of EDCSV:

• To award the doctoral contracts of the University Grenoble Alpes (via a competition).
• To ensure the quality of the applications for all theses, whatever their financing.
• Inform and ensure the pedagogical and administrative follow-up of doctoral students, from the first registration to the defence of the thesis, in compliance with the thesis charter and in close collaboration with the host laboratories and teams.
• To organize (in connection with the College of Doctoral Schools) the training, missions and activities useful to the research project, to the acquisition of complementary skills and to the professional project of the doctoral students,
• Assist the supervisors in their training mission. The HDR (Habilitation to Conduct Research) committee is thus attached to the Doctoral School of Chemistry and Life Sciences.
• To contribute to the attractiveness and promotion of the Doctorate at national and international level, in the academic and industrial sectors.

The professional profiles for which the Doctoral School prepares are of two types:

• fundamental research in higher education and public research organizations,
• fundamental and applied research in industrial companies in the health (medicine, pharmacy), agronomy, biotechnology and chemistry sectors.
